Strategies

BIOTECHNOLOGY

  • Biomedical Biotechnology: study effective mechanisms of drugs, produce biological reagents, develop molecular diagnostic techniques, develop animal models for biomedical researches, conduct research on stem cell
  • Molecular Biotechnology: research on genetic engineering to improve quality of animal breeds and plant varieties, recombinant DNA technology, production of bioactive products by cell culture technology
  • Industrial Biotechnology: apply biotechnology in industrial production of the secondary products of metabolism, conduct research on biotransformation, food processing, techniques for isolation of various proteins and bioactive reagents, biomaterials
  • Marine Biotechnology: isolate highly-valuable bioactive compounds for the production of pharmaceutical products and biofuel, increase yield of aquaculture and disease resistance of marine organisms, provide sustainable solutions to  marine environmental pollution problems

FOOD TECHNOLOGY

  • Study on food processing technologies and post harvest technologies.
  • Develop methods to improve product quality, ensure food safety.
  • Develop quick tests to check food quality and to detect chemicals used in food processing.

AQUATIC RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Study on effects of global climate change on aquaculture resources and  measures to mitigate them
  • Apply biotechnology to restore, regenerate and conserve endangered aquatic organisms
  • Develop new technologies for aquaculture food production, mass production of highly nutritious algae and plankton for extraction of amino acids, lipids, non-saturated fatty acids, vitamin etc considered valuable raw materials for food production.
  • Design modern aquaculture systems to improve production yield and profit, reduce negative effects on the environment.
